India's aviation market continues to grow rapidly, with the country adding around 100 million air passengers each year. The new Noida International Airport at Jewar is designed to accommodate this surge by initially serving 6 million passengers annually, with ambitions to expand capacity to 12 million. The airport, located 72 kilometers from Delhi, is expected to ease congestion at existing airports and become a key infrastructure asset for the region.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the airport features modern architectural elements such as high ceilings, natural lighting, and an open-air courtyard aimed at improving passenger experience. It has already received its aerodrome license, with phased operational plans to commence with domestic and regional flights before transitioning to full international operations by the end of 2026.
Development of Cargo Infrastructure
A significant feature of the facility is its dedicated cargo hub designed to support the industrial and logistics corridors along the Yamuna Expressway, reducing dependency on congested existing facilities and supporting regional economic growth.
The airport’s success will hinge on airline commitments, operational efficiency, and passenger connectivity solutions. Given the region's projected growth, it is positioned to become a vital component of India’s aviation infrastructure, helping meet rising demand and fostering regional development.
