Infinium Energy and the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) announced the selection of Project Atlas to supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) certificates under a groundbreaking procurement launched in May 2025. This initiative aims to accelerate the deployment of high-quality, solution-based fuel pathways for aviation.
The project has a planned capacity of about 100,000 metric tons annually and targets a 95% reduction in carbon intensity compared to traditional fossil jet fuel. It builds on previous Infinium projects and seeks to deliver scalable, low-carbon eSAF by transforming waste CO₂ with renewable energy.
Strategic Partnership and Market Impact
American Airlines will serve as the end-user and logistics overseer for the fuel, marking its second eSAF agreement with Infinium. The deal supports SABA’s broader goal of mobilizing corporate demand to facilitate new SAF production facilities and promote sustainable aviation practices across sectors.
Infinium’s CEO highlighted the importance of the offtake agreement for advancing domestic power-to-liquid fuel production. The project also aims to satisfy growing European demand, supported by regulations mandating SAF blending, which are expected to increase significantly by 2035.
“The agreement reflects growing commercial demand for next-generation power-to-liquid fuels and supports the continued development of new domestic production capacity,” said Robert Schuetzle, CEO of Infinium.
Overall, this initiative signifies a significant step towards achieving net-zero aviation emissions and demonstrates the expanding role of innovative fuel pathways in global climate strategies.
