Kenyan aviation companies Phoenix Aviation and Bluebird Aviation have entered into a partnership to operate a Gulfstream V (GV) aircraft, aiming to strengthen regional air charter and medical evacuation services across East Africa. Phoenix Aviation, founded in 1994 and based in Nairobi, specializes in charter, aircraft maintenance, and management services, operating from Wilson Airport. Bluebird Aviation, established in 1992 and also based in Nairobi, provides aircraft management, cargo delivery, and passenger transport throughout Africa.

The Gulfstream V, renowned for its ultra-long-range capabilities, enables non-stop flights between distant locations and can operate at altitudes up to 51,000 feet. This aircraft will allow the carriers to offer high-end, reliable long-haul flights tailored for private clients and government needs. The partnership is expected to expand the regional fleet options, stabilize operations, and harness Bluebird’s established routes and operational expertise to enhance service offerings.

This move signifies a broader trend of African private aviation firms investing in long-range, luxurious aircraft to meet the growing demand for premium air travel. By combining their strengths, Phoenix Aviation and Bluebird aim to establish Kenya as a regional hub for high-end aviation services, contributing to the development of a more competitive, efficient, and upscale aviation market in East Africa.
