Singapore’s SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has acquired a 30% stake in Arport Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering (Fujian), marking a strategic expansion of its aircraft maintenance services in China. The transaction, valued at approximately CNY129 million ($19 million), enables SIAEC to participate in the provision of line maintenance, ground services, and base maintenance at several airports in Fujian province, including Xiamen, Fuzhou, Wuyishan, and Longyan.

Arport AME, a subsidiary of IPORT Group, owns and operates these airports. The joint venture follows a memorandum of understanding signed in September 2023 and a subsequent nonbinding framework agreement in November 2024. The partnership aligns with plans for relocating operations from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, which is scheduled to close once the new Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport becomes operational in late 2026.

Expansion in Chinese Airport Support Services

SIAEC’s investment signifies a key step in strengthening its presence in China’s regional aviation support network. The company intends to continue providing reliable maintenance services at the new Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport, supporting the region’s growing air traffic and infrastructure development.

“This transaction has taken into account Arport AME’s plans to move its operations to the new Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport, in line with plans for the overall transfer of airport operations at the existing Gaoqi Airport to the new airport,” said SIAEC.

The move supports China’s ongoing efforts to modernize its airport infrastructure and enhance maintenance capabilities regionally. SIAEC’s strategic investment aims to capitalize on the expected increase in air travel and freight volumes in eastern China, reinforcing its role as a leader in MRO services in Asia.
