During Routes World 2025, Stuttgart Airport (STR) was awarded the winner in the 5–10 Million Passengers category at the Routes Awards ceremony in Hong Kong, recognizing its strategic marketing efforts and strong airline partnerships that continue to drive growth.
Located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany’s third-largest state, Stuttgart Airport serves as a gateway to a diverse and economically vibrant region. The airport handled more than 9.1 million passengers in 2024 and has seen a 4.2% increase through August 2025.
Route Development and Airline Collaborations
The success of Stuttgart Airport’s route development over the past year highlights effective collaboration with airline partners, including Eurowings, which launched flights to Dublin, Malta, and Amman, and will expand services to Marrakesh and Agadir. Additionally, Condor announced its daily service to Dubai International Airport (DXB), complementing Eurowings’ increased frequency to Dubai.
"Winning the award is a great recognition for the outstanding work our team has delivered over the last year. Thank you to our airline partners and the judges—we’re very happy and enjoyed the evening,"
said Christoph Kenner, Vice President Commercial Aviation.
Other airlines such as FlyOne, Turkish SunExpress, and Wizz Air expanded their operations at STR through new routes to Moldova, Ordu-Giresun, Bursa, Edremit, and Skopje. These efforts, combined with targeted marketing campaigns, contributed to the recognition at the awards ceremony. Despite operational costs and a competitive environment, STR maintained momentum through market analysis, incentives, and close airline collaboration, securing its reputation as a key European hub.
