Thailand's Tourism Authority (TAT) has set an ambitious goal to attract 8.45 million European visitors in 2025. This initiative leverages strategic airline partnerships and soft power campaigns, including promoting Muay Thai and cultural festivals, to strengthen Thailand's position as a preferred long-haul destination.

Data indicates that between January and September 2025, Thailand welcomed over 5.48 million European tourists, reflecting a 14% increase year-on-year. Major source markets such as Germany, France, the UK, and Russia have all contributed to this growth, supported by expanded flight routes and increased airline capacity. Airlines like British Airways, Air France, Condor, and Thai AirAsia X are expanding their services to enhance connectivity and promote tourism.

Beyond aviation, TAT is implementing soft power strategies, including cultural exchanges and Thai festivals, to foster a positive perception among visitors. Special focus is placed on Eastern European markets like Poland, where charter flight operations are increasing arrivals and cultural events such as the Thailand Street Fest are planned to raise awareness about Thai culture and traditions.

In Southern Europe, TAT is promoting direct flights and niche tourism segments such as sports, LGBT travel, and digital nomads. Countries including Italy, Spain, Israel, and Turkey are expanding direct routes, with Turkey expecting to see 120,000 visitors by the end of 2025. The agency collaborates with local travel agencies and social media influencers to sustain growth, despite external challenges like geopolitical tensions and global travel disruptions.
