Turkey's National Aerospace Industry Advances Hydraulic System Localization
Turkey is making significant progress in localizing aircraft hydraulic systems, vital for controlling and maneuvering aircraft. These systems, comprising pumps, actuators, and power units, are being developed to reduce reliance on foreign technologies and improve defense capabilities.
Türkiye's efforts focus on manufacturing components that meet international aviation standards, enabling the country to support both domestic aircraft programs and export markets. IDAK AeroSystems, a key player in this initiative, produces hydraulic pumps, reservoirs, valves, and other subsystems tailored for various aircraft and helicopter platforms.
According to IDAK AeroSystems General Manager Ali Emre Akgunes, the company emphasizes strict engineering and qualification processes, underscoring the importance of experience and precision in aerospace manufacturing. He highlighted that products developed for national platforms are fully compliant with global standards, positioning Türkiye for international competitiveness.
Türkiye's project portfolio includes contributions to programs such as KAAN, HURJET, and HURKUS, as well as support for domestic aircraft engines. The company plans to establish a Center of Excellence for hydraulic systems and expand its global footprint through new ventures like IDAK Italia.
This strategic move strengthens Türkiye’s defense independence, supports high-value manufacturing, and opens avenues for export growth in the aerospace sector, with recent export contracts marking notable milestones in this journey.
