The United Arab Emirates' aviation industry experienced remarkable growth in 2025, establishing the country as a dominant global logistics hub. Dubai International Airport recorded a historic 95.2 million passengers, making it the busiest and most connected airport worldwide for international travel. The airport's flight movements increased by 3.3 percent, reaching 454,800, while baggage handling also saw a record high of 86.75 million bags.
In Abu Dhabi, passenger numbers surpassed 33 million, with Zayed International Airport handling 8.59 million travelers in the last quarter alone, up 13.8 percent. Cargo volumes across the emirate's five airports also grew, totaling nearly 770,000 tonnes, further emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s expanding role in global logistics.
Regional Airports and Airline Expansion
Sharjah Airport’s passenger count increased by 13.9 percent to 19.48 million, supported by broader regional and international connections. Ras Al Khaimah Airport surpassed the one-million passenger milestone for the first time, handling 1.3 million travelers and expanding its network to 16 international destinations, including countries like India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Egypt.
The UAE's major airlines continued to expand their networks: Emirates operates 152 destinations across 79 countries, flydubai serves over 135 destinations in 58 countries with 97 aircraft, Etihad Airways flies to 91 destinations in over 50 countries, and Air Arabia added 30 new routes, reaching 219 destinations in total.
Investment in infrastructure and technology remained a priority, with airports improving operational efficiency and passenger services through AI, self-service platforms, and digital payments. The sector also received multiple international awards for safety, sustainability, and service quality, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in global aviation standards.
