Vietnam Aircraft Engineering Company (VAECO), a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as a maintenance training organization under EASA Part 147 standards. This marks the first such certification for a Vietnamese entity, indicating robust advancement in the country’s aircraft maintenance training sector.
Designed to establish international standards, EASA Part 147 certification allows trained engineers to perform aircraft maintenance and issue certification approvals in compliance with European norms. The certification process involved extensive development of technical curricula, instructor standards, and training systems, in collaboration with Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority.
According to VAECO, this recognition places Vietnam closer to global benchmarks in aircraft maintenance training, reduces costs associated with overseas training, and supports the nation’s modern expanding fleet that necessitates highly skilled technical staff. Notably, VAECO becomes one of the few companies in Southeast Asia to hold both EASA Part 145 and Part 147 approvals, reflecting comprehensive maintenance and training capabilities.
This achievement enhances Vietnam’s position within the international aviation maintenance network and signals the country's commitment to elevating its civil aviation standards, fostering increased safety compliance and technical excellence across the sector.
