Overview

Bamboo Airways (QH) is a Vietnamese airline founded in 2017 and launched in January 2019 as a "hybrid" carrier, according to Wikipedia. It was set up by FLC Group, which collapsed in 2022 after the arrest of its founder. The airline has since gone through repeated management changes, debts and aircraft repossessions (Air Data News). Wikipedia lists its headquarters as Ho Chi Minh City. It does not belong to an alliance. Its loyalty programme is Bamboo Club.

Current status

Travellers should not expect to book scheduled flights. Aerocorner reports that no scheduled tickets were on sale from 1 August 2026, and that the airline had not announced a shutdown. Travelextra reports that the final scheduled flights ended around 22 August 2026 and that cash refunds could take up to 90 business days. The airline says it plans to restart scheduled flights but has given no routes or dates. We found no news after August 2026.

Network and hubs

  • Hubs listed by Wikipedia: Hanoi Noi Bai and Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat, with a registered base at Phu Cat (Quy Nhon).
  • At its peak, the network had about 20 domestic and 18 international destinations (Aerocorner).
  • Routes to Melbourne, Sydney, Frankfurt and London have all been discontinued (InsideFlyer).
  • In August 2026 the remaining flying was charter work, such as Da Nang to Macau.

Fleet

The fleet peaked at about 44 aircraft. It ended 2025 with eight and had three on its books in August 2026. Only one Airbus A321-200 (VN-A227) was flying, and two aircraft were grounded (InsideFlyer). Sixteen aircraft, including three Boeing 787-9s, were taken back by lessors from October 2023 onwards. Management has talked of adding eight to ten aircraft a year from 2026 to 2030 (AviationSource News), but no deliveries had been confirmed.

On board

Current cabin, seat, meal and entertainment details could not be confirmed from sources. Because only charter flights operate, on-board service depends on the charter arrangement.

Good to know

  • Anyone holding a Bamboo Airways booking should claim a refund through the airline's refund request process, which it announced on 28 July 2026. Processing times may be long.
  • Punctuality was poor before the suspension. The Civil Aviation Authority recorded 66.8% of flights on time in June 2026, against an industry average of 75.7% (AviationSource News).
  • The airline owes about US$16.8 million in unpaid taxes (same source).
  • Baggage allowances, change fees and lounge access could not be verified. Check with the airline or the official website before travelling.
  • Consider other Vietnamese carriers for domestic travel until scheduled flights resume.
