Jetstar Japan is a low-cost airline headquartered in Narita, Chiba Prefecture. According to Wikipedia, it was founded in 2011 and began flying on 3 July 2012. It is a joint venture between Japan Airlines (50%), Qantas (33.3%) and Tokyo Century (16.7%). It is not a member of an alliance.
Qantas announced on 3 February 2026 that it would sell its stake, and the airline is to be rebranded by June 2027. AirlineRatings reported in October 2026 that a new brand is expected to be revealed this month, with the transition completing by summer 2027. The airline is still operating as Jetstar Japan.
Bases are Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai and Nagoya Centrair. The airline flies domestic routes and short international routes in the Asia-Pacific region. Wikipedia lists about 20 destinations. Per AirlineRatings, most routes take under two hours, and the longest is the five-hour sector to Manila.
The fleet consists only of Airbus A320-family aircraft, including A320s and A321LRs. Wikipedia lists 23 aircraft; the page was retrieved in September 2026 and does not give an exact count date.
