Airline
Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) is the state-owned flag carrier of Mozambique. According to Wikipedia, it was founded on 26 August 1936 as DETA, began operations in December 1937 and was renamed in 1980. Its headquarters are in Maputo. Its IATA code is TM (not LM) and its ICAO code is LAM. The airline is not a member of an alliance. It has commercial partnerships with Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, South African Airways and TAAG Angola Airlines, according to AFRAA.
The airline is in a restructuring. In August 2026 it began trading under the AirMozambique brand, according to 360 Mozambique.
The main hub is Maputo International Airport, with Beira as a focus city. The network is mainly domestic, plus regional routes in southern Africa such as Johannesburg. Recent Embraer flights have included Maputo–Beira and Maputo–Nacala (World Airline News). Management has said it plans to expand to Europe, Asia and South America (Africa Brief). These are plans, not scheduled services.
As of August 2026 the fleet stood at 10 aircraft, up from three serviceable aircraft in May 2025 (Lusa via AMAN). Eight were in service before the Embraers arrived. Two ex-KLM Cityhopper Embraer 190s (about 100 seats) joined them. The airline's earlier fleet included Boeing 737-500, Airbus A319, CRJ900 and Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, many of them leased. The target is 12 aircraft by the end of 2026. The fleet mix changes often, so check current details with the airline.
Published details of seat pitch, cabin layout, meals, entertainment and Wi-Fi were not found in the sources reviewed. Seat counts range from about 74 on the Q400 to 144 on the A319 (Wikipedia, December 2025).
