Airline
Transavia is a Dutch low-cost airline. Its Wikipedia entry gives its first commercial flight as 16 November 1966, from Amsterdam to Naples, originally as a charter carrier. KLM bought control in 1991 and took full ownership in 2003, and Transavia is now a wholly owned subsidiary of KLM within the Air France-KLM group. It is not a member of a global alliance. Its head office moved to Hoofddorp, beside the railway station, on 24 August 2026. A separate company, Transavia France, operates under the same brand from Paris-Orly.
The main base is Amsterdam Schiphol. Other bases are Rotterdam The Hague, Eindhoven and Brussels. The airline serves roughly 96 to 98 destinations, mostly leisure and city-break routes in Europe and the Mediterranean, according to the English and Dutch Wikipedia articles.
The Wikipedia fleet table (retrieved 28 September 2026) lists 51 aircraft in service: 34 Boeing 737-800 and 17 Airbus A321neo. Dutch Wikipedia gives 48 for 2026, so the figure varies by source. Transavia is replacing its Boeing 737s with Airbus A320neo-family aircraft, under an order placed in December 2021 with Air France-KLM for 100 aircraft plus 60 options. The first A321neo entered service in December 2023. The airline's fleet page describes the same renewal.
Transavia operates a single-class, no-frills cabin. Seat pitch, meal service and entertainment details were not confirmed in the sources reviewed, so they are not stated here. Check the booking page for the fare chosen.
