WestJet has removed 10 nonstop routes from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) during 2026, according to Simple Flying, which based its analysis on Cirium data. Most of the cuts come from the airline's full withdrawal from Cuba, but a domestic route, a transborder route and a seasonal European route have also gone. Passengers booked on affected services should check their options with the airline.
Simple Flying reports that WestJet suspended its Cuba services in February, withdrawing seven destinations from Toronto: Cayo Coco, Cienfuegos, Cayo Largo del Sur, Havana, Holguín, Santa Clara and Varadero. The outlet says Air Canada and Air Transat have also suspended Cuba flights, following widening US sanctions that have limited the supply of food, fuel and electricity to the island. Airlines are reported to be pausing operations until the situation improves.
Simple Flying notes that Toronto is WestJet's third-busiest base by weekly departures, behind Calgary and Vancouver. From November, the airline will fly nonstop from Toronto to 51 destinations: 20 in the Caribbean, 7 in Central America, 5 in the United States, 4 in Europe and Mexico, and 11 in Canada.
It is not stated when, or whether, the Cuba routes will resume.
