Neste and Cathay Group have collaborated to increase the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in their respective operations across three major regions: Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific. This partnership aims to support Cathay’s environmental commitments and efforts to reduce carbon emissions from air travel.
The supply of blended SAF at key international airports, including Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Los Angeles International Airport, and Singapore Changi Airport, enables Cathay Pacific and Air Hong Kong flights to utilize more environmentally friendly fuel without requiring aircraft modifications. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable aviation practices and reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
Company executives emphasized the importance of SAF in decarbonizing aviation. Kristof Van Passel of Cathay Pacific highlighted that the partnership embodies their commitment to innovation and sustainability, while Mario Mifsud of Neste noted that the company’s capabilities facilitate airlines in scaling SAF usage, significantly contributing to emission reductions.
