I flew Vietnam Airlines from Bangkok to Tokyo and back in October 2026, in economy, with a change of plane each way. Out: VN626 from Bangkok (BKK) to Da Nang (DAD) on 2 October, then the overnight VN318 from Da Nang to Tokyo Narita (NRT), leaving at 00:10 and arriving at 07:35. Back on 7 October: VN307 from Narita to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), then VN607 to Bangkok. I didn't note the aircraft types or my seat numbers.
Seat. I'm 165 cm. The seats were just right, neither too wide nor too narrow, and there was enough space between my knees and the seat in front.
Food and drink. The food was okay and I enjoyed it, though it was nothing special. Drinks and water came with the normal service.
Crew. The service was average, but perfectly fine. The crew served drinks and meals as expected.
Entertainment. There was no personal screen at my seat. I didn't try the Wi-Fi.
On time. The flights left on time, and some arrived earlier than scheduled. The landings were surprisingly smooth, which left a very good impression.
Baggage. My ticket included 23 kg of checked baggage per person.
Would I fly it again? Yes. It's a full-service airline at a relatively affordable price, so I think it's good value for money. I'd give it 8 out of 10.
