Overview

Flair Airlines is a Canadian ultra low-cost carrier headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. According to Wikipedia, it began as the privately owned Flair Air in August 2005, mainly operating charters. It bought the assets of the discount travel company NewLeaf in 2017 and began scheduled flights under the Flair name. The airline is not a member of any global alliance. Wikipedia lists Len Corrado as chief executive.

In 2022 the Canadian Transportation Agency concluded that Flair is Canadian-controlled, allowing it to keep its operating licence after a review of foreign investment in the company.

Network and hubs

Flair's website says it serves over 35 destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Wikipedia lists operating bases at Calgary, Edmonton, Kitchener/Waterloo, Toronto Pearson, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Domestic routes include Halifax, Kelowna, Victoria and St. John's. Several leisure destinations, such as Cancún, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Las Vegas and Orlando, are served, some of them seasonally.

Fleet

The fleet consists of Boeing 737 aircraft, mainly 737 MAX 8 and 737-800 jets. Wikipedia gave a fleet of 20 aircraft when retrieved on 4 September 2026. The fleet has changed over time. Lessor seizures of four aircraft in March 2023 and later additions are covered in news reports, so check for the latest figure.

On board

Flair uses a fully unbundled, no-frills model. Its site says customers pay only for what they choose, such as bags or seat selection, and that seats are assigned free of charge if the passenger does not choose one. This research did not confirm details of cabin layout, seat pitch, meals or in-flight entertainment, so these are not listed here. Passengers should check flyflair.com before travel.

Good to know

  • Baggage: bags are not included in the base fare and are charged as extras. Flair also sells bundles. Current sizes, weights and prices are on the airline's website.
  • Seats: random seat assignment is free; chosen seats cost extra.
  • Complaints: the Canadian Transportation Agency reported Flair had the highest complaint rate among major Canadian airlines in 2022-23 (15.3 complaints per 100 flights), according to Wikipedia. More recent figures were not reviewed.
  • Lounges and alliance: no lounge access or alliance benefits were found in sources reviewed.
