JetBlue has set out how elite members and cardholders will be upgraded into its new BlueFirst domestic first-class cabin. According to One Mile at a Time and The Points Guy, all TrueBlue Mosaic members will be eligible for unlimited complimentary, space-available upgrades as the first BlueFirst seats enter service from December 2026. Most other changes take effect on 1 February 2027, according to The Points Guy.

How complimentary upgrades will work

Eligibility also extends to holders of the JetBlue Premier Card, including authorised users without status, provided they pay for the trip with the card. One Mile at a Time reports that upgrades clear on a space-available basis 60 minutes before departure, and that members are added to the waitlist automatically, which can be viewed in the JetBlue app. One companion on the same reservation can also be upgraded, but reservations with three or more people are not eligible, even for the member.

Priority runs from Mosaic 4 to Mosaic 1, then Premier cardholders without status. Within each group, One Mile at a Time says priority depends on paying with a JetBlue credit card, then buying an EvenMore fare, then tiles earned in the current programme year.

The outlets describe the fare rules slightly differently. The Points Guy says base main cabin and EvenMore fares are ineligible; One Mile at a Time specifies that only Main Base and EvenMore Base are excluded, while Main, Main Flex, EvenMore and EvenMore Flex qualify. United MileagePlus Premier members are not eligible despite the airlines’ partnership, according to One Mile at a Time.

Status requirements and certificates

Qualification thresholds are unchanged: 50 tiles for Mosaic 1, 100 for Mosaic 2, 150 for Mosaic 3 and 250 for Mosaic 4. The Points Guy says BlueFirst will be fitted to all aircraft without Mint, and standard complimentary upgrades into Mint will not be offered.

The Move to Mint certificates are being renamed Premium Upgrade Certificates and can be used for Mint or BlueFirst. Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 members each receive four on reaching those tiers. One Mile at a Time adds that Mosaic 4 members can earn two more for every 100 tiles beyond 250. Certificates can confirm an upgrade from booking until two hours before departure, and One Mile at a Time notes there are no capacity controls. The number needed per segment varies from one to four depending on the flight.

Perks You Pick changes

Members from Mosaic 2 upward can choose an extra Premium Upgrade Certificate as a Perks You Pick option, for a total of up to three extra. One Mile at a Time says the cost in forgone bonus points rises from 10,000 to 20,000 to 30,000 across the tiers. New options include one-time passes to the BlueHouse lounges in New York City and Boston; only Mosaic 4 unlocks a full lounge membership, per The Points Guy. Premier cardholders also get new pre-status milestone perks at 10, 20, 30 and 40 tiles.

What this means for travellers

  • Mosaic members and Premier cardholders can expect to be placed on upgrade lists automatically for eligible fares once BlueFirst is on their aircraft.
  • Upgrades will clear only within an hour of departure, so those wanting certainty will need certificates.
  • Booking the cheapest base fares rules out upgrades.
  • It is not yet known how many certificates domestic BlueFirst flights will require; One Mile at a Time says JetBlue has not committed to a cap below four.
