EL AL has announced a wide-ranging passenger experience refresh, with new bedding, amenity kits, dining and entertainment arriving progressively from November 2026 and Starlink inflight internet to follow from 2027. According to One Mile at a Time, the changes will be introduced gradually across the fleet and will depend on the flight destination.
One Mile at a Time lists the main changes. EL AL will work with Israeli textile brand TAKEANAP on new pillows and blankets across cabins, including memory foam pillows and mattress pads in business class. Long-haul business class passengers will also receive pyjamas, slippers and a soothing fragrance.
Business class amenity kits will be produced with Jo Malone London. They will come in about 10 colours and include socks, an eye mask and personal care essentials, along with a velvet pouch holding the brand's fragrance and body care products.
Dining will be led by chef Assaf Granit. Business class gets new menus and tableware, with an emphasis on healthy, protein-rich meals and a dessert cart. PaxEx.Aero adds that economy passengers on routes to Europe will get a poke bowl option, and that nutritional information will appear on long-haul menus.
A new generation of inflight entertainment will offer more personalisation, including recommendations based on viewing preferences and the ability to resume content from a previous flight. PaxEx.Aero says passengers will be able to connect their Matmid loyalty account on the seatback screen, though its author questions how much practical value that offers.
The EL AL app will gain a "Travel Mode" from 48 hours before departure, collecting essential pre-flight information, according to One Mile at a Time. PaxEx.Aero reports the app will also add "Ella", an AI-powered service representative.
Both outlets say the first aircraft are expected to fly with Starlink beginning in 2027, and that the service is expected to be complimentary. PaxEx.Aero notes the airline has not said a frequent flyer membership will be required, unlike several other carriers. It also says the work involves swapping the currently installed Viasat hardware for SpaceX equipment, which will be a more sequential effort than the product changes.
One Mile at a Time says EL AL has not said how long installation will take or when in 2027 it will start. It puts the fleet at just under 50 aircraft, including Boeing 787s, 777s and 737s.
EL AL's VP of Marketing & Digital, Nadav Hanin, said the airline continues to invest in its aircraft, network, product and service.
