The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore will join the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme on 1 December 2026, according to One Mile at a Time. From that date, Bonvoy members will be able to earn and redeem points at the 608-key hotel and use elite perks, ending its status as the only Ritz-Carlton in the world outside the programme.
One Mile at a Time reports that members will be able to earn and redeem points and receive Bonvoy elite benefits when staying at the property. The outlet notes that elite perks at Ritz-Carlton hotels are fairly limited, and that breakfast is not a benefit for any elite tier.
The hotel opened in 1996, when Ritz-Carlton had no loyalty scheme that awarded points. One Mile at a Time explains that the Ritz-Carlton Rewards programme began awarding points for stays in 2010, running in parallel with Marriott Rewards. Participation carried a cost for individual hotels, though it was intended to lift occupancy and average daily rates, and hotels were initially allowed to opt in or out.
Most hotels joined. The Ritz-Carlton Osaka and the Singapore hotel opted out, but Osaka later chose to take part, leaving Singapore as the sole exception. When Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest were combined to form Marriott Bonvoy, the Singapore hotel could still rely on its legacy contract not to participate, according to the report.
No official explanation has been given, One Mile at a Time says. The outlet offers its own view, not confirmed by Marriott or the owners, that competition in Singapore's hotel market, the need to fill more than 600 rooms nightly and the hotel's age may have prompted the move. It also expects the hotel will pay additional loyalty fees.
Travellers planning stays around the changeover should check the hotel's and Marriott's terms before booking.
