Frontier Airlines has cut 21 international routes from its network this year, with Atlanta losing the most, according to Simple Flying. The report, published on 19 October 2026 and based on Cirium data, says the cuts took effect between March and August as the airline redeploys its aircraft elsewhere. Ten US airports are affected, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Denver, Orlando, Chicago Midway, Miami, Chicago O'Hare, Raleigh and Tampa.

Atlanta loses eight routes

Simple Flying reports that Frontier removed eight international routes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, all ending in April. Some were seasonal, but the airline has not scheduled any of them to return in 2027. The destinations were Aruba, Nassau, Providenciales, Puerto Vallarta, San Pedro Sula, Santo Domingo, San José del Cabo and Sint Maarten.

The shortest route was Nassau at 726 miles (1,168 km), and the longest was Aruba at 1,715 miles (2,761 km). Simple Flying lists Delta Air Lines as a competitor on all eight routes, and says many of them will now be served by the Atlanta-based carrier.

Florida and other cuts

Six international routes were cut from Florida, according to the report: three from Miami, two from Orlando and one from Tampa. They went to the Dominican Republic, El Salvador or Sint Maarten.

  • Miami to San Salvador and Santo Domingo ended in April, and Miami to Punta Cana in August.
  • Orlando to Santo Domingo ended in May, and Orlando to Sint Maarten in August.
  • Tampa to Punta Cana ended in August.

Miami to San Salvador faces the most remaining competition, with three other operators listed, including Avianca and Volaris. Orlando to Sint Maarten is left with only Southwest Airlines. JetBlue is listed as a competitor on Orlando and Tampa to Punta Cana.

Baltimore/Washington, Charlotte, Chicago Midway and Raleigh-Durham all lost nonstop service to Cancun, mostly in April. Simple Flying says Charlotte to Cancun had a load factor of just 48.2%, citing US DOT data. Denver also lost Puerto Vallarta and San José del Cabo services, and the full list in the source continues with further Chicago O'Hare routes. The text provided was cut off before those details.

What this means for travellers

Anyone who booked Frontier leisure flights on these routes should check their itinerary and booking status directly with the airline. Most of the listed routes ended between March and August 2026, so remaining bookings are likely to relate to services Frontier no longer plans to fly. The sources do not describe refund or rebooking arrangements.

For Atlanta travellers, Delta is listed as an alternative on every cancelled route. Other options vary by city: Southwest serves several Cancun and Mexican routes, while American, Arajet, Breeze and JetBlue appear on others. Fares and schedules on those carriers are not covered in the source.
