Virgin Atlantic is ending guesting for Upper Class passengers from 2 November. According to Head for Points, customers travelling in Upper Class will no longer be able to bring a guest into any Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. The rule also applies to third-party lounges and to the Upper Class Wing at London Heathrow. The airline confirmed the change to the site after a reader tip-off.

What is changing

Head for Points reports that Upper Class passengers still get automatic access to the Clubhouse at Heathrow, but without a guest. The airline reportedly said the change followed customer feedback. The site notes that the move brings Virgin Atlantic into line with its partner Delta Air Lines, whose Delta One passengers were already unable to bring a guest.

Heathrow Clubhouse access rules

Head for Points sets out the Heathrow rules from 2 November 2026. Access to Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses is for eligible passengers only and cannot be bought. Eligibility is as follows:

  • Upper Class passengers on Virgin Atlantic and Delta One passengers on Delta get access, with no guest.
  • Other SkyTeam business class passengers do not get access.
  • Virgin Flying Club Gold members flying Virgin Atlantic or Delta in any class can enter, with one guest on the same flight.
  • Delta SkyMiles Diamond or Platinum Medallion members, and Flying Blue Platinum members (Air France / KLM), can enter when flying premium economy on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, with one guest on the same flight.

The site adds that a Clubhouse access voucher can no longer be chosen as a reward on a UK Virgin Atlantic credit card.

Who is sent to the No1 Lounge

According to Head for Points, some status holders cannot use the Heathrow Clubhouse but can use the No1 Lounge in Terminal 3, with a guest on the same flight included. These are Delta Diamond or Platinum Medallion and Flying Blue Platinum members flying economy, and other SkyTeam Elite Plus members in economy or premium economy on Virgin Atlantic, Delta or Aeroméxico. The list also covers Virgin Australia Velocity Gold, Platinum and Beyond members flying Virgin Atlantic, and Air New Zealand Gold or Elite members on Virgin Atlantic flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Head for Points notes that Virgin Atlantic has started planning for a much emptier Heathrow Terminal 3 Clubhouse because Delta is moving to Terminal 4. It suspects some of these passengers may gain Clubhouse access from 2028 as capacity opens up; this is the site's view, not an announcement.

What this means for travellers

  • Upper Class passengers should not plan to bring a friend, relative or colleague into a Clubhouse, third-party lounge or the Heathrow Upper Class Wing from 2 November.
  • Guests may still be possible for some status holders, such as Flying Club Gold members, who can bring one guest travelling on the same flight.
  • Anyone relying on a credit card Clubhouse voucher on a UK Virgin Atlantic card should note it is no longer a reward option.

Sources do not say whether exceptions apply, for example for children travelling with an Upper Class passenger.
