The airport at a glance

• Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is Taiwan's main international airport, in Dayuan, Taoyuan, west of Taipei; the Airport MRT links it with Taipei Main Station.
• It has two terminals, T1 and T2, linked by a free Skytrain. EVA Air, China Airlines and Starlux are based here; 61 airlines are on the airport's list.
• Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Thai VietJet all fly from Terminal 1.

• Terminal 2: EVA Air, UNI Air, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, ANA, Asiana, Air Busan, Vietnam Airlines, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan, Hong Kong Airlines, United, Delta, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and Etihad.
• Both: China Airlines uses Terminal 2 for the US (incl. Guam), Canada, Australia, Japan and cross-Strait flights, and Terminal 1 for other routes. Starlux and Mandarin Airlines also use both; check your booking.

Getting between terminals

• The Skytrain between the terminals is free, for passengers and airport staff.
• A free shuttle bus also runs between the terminals.
• The Airport MRT links A12 (Terminal 1), A13 (Terminal 2) and A14a (Airport Hotel).

Getting to Taipei

• Airport MRT: A12 (Terminal 1) and A13 (Terminal 2) are served by express and commuter trains, alternating, about every 7.5 minutes, to Taipei Main Station.
• Buses: Terminal 1 bus waiting area on B1, Terminal 2 on 1F, with routes to cities across Taiwan.
• High-speed rail: change to the MRT or a bus at HSR Taoyuan Station in Zhongli.
• Taxis: Terminal 1 arrivals hall 1F, west side, door 12; Terminal 2 arrivals hall 1F, the lane opposite door 26. Car rental is in both arrivals halls.

Arriving in Taiwan

• Thai nationals with an ordinary passport can visit Taiwan visa-free for up to 14 days (scheme valid until 31 July 2027). The stay cannot be extended.
• Thai passport holders must also carry proof of a hotel booking or host contact details, and enough money for the trip. The passport must be valid for at least six months on entry.
• You can fill in Taiwan's arrival card online before landing; the airport's site links to it.
