American Airlines has reopened Flagship Dining at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after a six-year closure, according to The Points Guy. The sit-down, multi-course service is open to eligible premium passengers in the Flagship Lounge, and access now extends beyond first class to Flagship business class customers. Simple Flying also reported the reopening on 7 November 2026.
The Points Guy says the restaurant-style experience had been closed since 2020 and returned this week after a face-lift. Instead of taking food from the buffet, guests get table service and a full menu of complimentary, coursed dishes. Simple Flying adds that meals can be ordered via a QR code.
The service is now available at three American Airlines hubs: LAX, Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Miami (MIA). In each case it sits within the Flagship Lounge, which is open to premium cabin passengers and AAdvantage elites on long-haul flights.
Previously, Flagship Dining was limited to Flagship First passengers on the Boeing 777-300ER or Airbus A321T. As the airline phases out first class, The Points Guy says business class passengers have been admitted since September. At DFW, MIA and LAX, access applies to those:
Both outlets stress that standard domestic first-class tickets do not qualify; the ticket must be marketed as Flagship. This is particularly relevant at LAX because it opens the restaurant to business class customers on certain transcontinental flights.
American once offered Flagship Dining at New York JFK. It now runs three lounges in Terminal 8 (Greenwich, Chelsea and Soho) alongside British Airways. At Philadelphia (PHL), Simple Flying and The Points Guy both say à la carte dining is available within the main club, which The Points Guy describes as the newest Flagship Lounge.
Both outlets say 19 November will be the last date American offers long-haul first class as a standalone product on its 777s. Those aircraft are being refitted with new interiors and the highest business class seat count the airline has offered. Transcontinental Flagship First is due to end in March 2027, according to Simple Flying; The Points Guy says March.
Simple Flying said an American spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment. Opening hours were not given in either report. For a wider view, see the American Airlines vs British Airways comparison.
